RZD International will prepare a project for the reconstruction of the railway from the Serbian Valjevo to the border with Montenegro
Today, RZD International LLC and Serbian Railways Infrastructure JSC signed a Supplementary Agreement to the Contract signed in January 2019, according to which the Russian side will design the project for “Reconstruction and Modernization of the Valjevo - Vrbnica - State border with Montenegro railway line” 210 km long.

The document was signed in Belgrade in the presence of Zorana Mikhailovich, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Harchenko and Sergei Pavlov, First Deputy Director General of Russian Railways JSC.

The implementation of this project will create a full-fledged transport corridor with access to the ports of the Adriatic Sea, which will contribute to the social and economic development of Serbia both in terms of intensifying cargo turnover and by increasing transport accessibility for the population.

Sergey Stolyarov, acting General Director of RZD International LLC: “We know how Serbians are waiting for the reconstruction of this line. For passengers it is an opportunity to travel to their favorite seaside resorts quickly, safely and comfortably".

During the events, the Serbian side expressed an interest in the implementation of not only the design, but also the reconstruction of the Valjevo - Vrbnica - State Border with Montenegro section by RZD International LLC.

RZD International has been carrying out modernization and construction of the Serbian railways since 2014. The Company has already completed reconstruction of the Belgrade – Pancevo and Resnik – Valjevo sections within the framework of the Pan-European Transport Corridor X development project and carried out construction of railway tracks on the Jejelev bridge. Also, 27 Russian-made Diesel Multiple Unit trains (DMU) were delivered to Serbia.

Now RZD International is constructing unique to Serbia facilities – the viaduct in the floodplain of the Danube river and the Chortanovci tunnel, – and reconstructing the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section for the train speed of 200 km/h.

Along with that, in January 2019, RZD International LLC and JSC Serbian Railways Infrastructure signed a contract, which includes the Integrated Traffic Control Center creation in the Republic of Serbia. The Document also stipulates construction works and procurement of materials in terms of the second stage of reconstruction, modernization and construction of the double-track railway for the speed of 200 km/h of the 40,44 km long Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section of the Belgrade – Budapest railway line.
