RZD International completes the railway track laying at the key facilities of the Stara Pazova - Novi Sad section in Serbia
Today the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandr Vucic and CEO and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways JSC Oleg Belozerov witnessed the Russian company RZD International connecting the railway track in the Cortanovci region on the Stara Pazova - Novi Sad section of the Belgrade - Budapest railway line in Serbia.

The ceremony of laying the final link of the permanent way, in order to make  a through railway connection on this section, took place on the Cortanovсi viaduct in the floodplain of the Danube River. The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Momirovic, the Ambassador of Russia to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko and other honored guests attended the event.

RZD International completed the construction of the two largest railway facilities in Serbia - the three-kilometer viaduct and the Cortanovci tunnel in April this year, six months ahead of the contract terms. The construction and modernization of the Stara Pazova - Novi Sad line with a length of 40.4 km, where the company has been working since 2017, is at the final stage.

The company has completed construction and installation works on all artificial structures, has laid 85% of the total volume of the permanent way, and is finalizing the installation of noise protection screens. All works should be completed at the end of 2021, according to the contract schedule.

Moreover, under the contract signed in December last year, the construction of catenary network for electrification of the railway line, the reconstruction of old and construction of a new station and office buildings continues at an outstripping pace.

After completion of works, the Stara Pazova - Novi Sad line will become the first high-speed railway in Serbia, where trains will be able to reach speed of up to 200 km/h. To confirm the reliability of the constructed facilities and their compliance with international standards, leading European railway companies are involved in the process of technical supervision over the quality of works and testing.
