RZD International Completes the Belgrade – Pancevo Project
The Acceptance Certificate of the Belgrade – Pancevo railway line was signed today by JSC “Infrastructure of Serbian Railways”, officializing the fact that RZD International has completely fulfilled its obligations in accordance with the Supplementary Agreement No.1 to the Contract and the object has been turned over to the Client. From this moment the 3-year guarantee period has started.
Works on the railway line started in late March, 2014 and included rehabilitation of the existing 16 km single-track line, construction and electrification of the second track, construction of 2 stations and 2 halt platforms, a 242-meter bridge over the river Tamish and smaller railway bridges. Additionally, 3 transformer sub-stations, a signaling and telecom building in the Pancevo-Glavny station were built. Other works included construction of drainage systems, rehabilitation of the catenary system, signaling and telecommunication systems.
At the request of the Serbian side RZD International have additionally conducted full replacement of two overpasses with installation of new metal spans. Efficient cost management during the Project allowed RZD International to execute reconstruction works without putting extra costs on the Client, ensuring safe traffic for both train passengers and car drivers.
Reconstruction of the Belgrade – Pancevo line has increased the maximum train speed limit from 30-50 kmph up to 120 kmph, increasing train-handling capacity and traffic safety at the same time. The total cost of the project is nearly 90 million US dollars.
