Alexandar Vucic was able to personally evaluate the scale of construction, having climbed the 18-meter high Chortanovci bridge span. “This is a symbol of success, especially for citizens who will use this railway. This will change the face of Serbia,” said Alexandar Vucic.

RZD International is carrying out construction and modernization works of the railway on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section. In the Chortanovci area, the double-track railway bridge in the floodplain of the Danube river and the railway tunnel are under construction. To date, the overall readiness of these objects is approaching 70%.

The viaduct total length will be about  3 km. At the moment, the installation of all the piers, as well as 10 spans between the piers on the viaduct, has been finished. Over half of the length of the Railway tunnel Chortanovci has been already completed. 706 workers and 137 units of construction and track machinery are involved in works on these projects.

RZD International is carrying out works in the frame of Additional Agreement 3.1 to the main Contract for the construction and modernization of the railway infrastructure of Serbia. The total cost of these works is about $338 mln. The works are scheduled for completion in 2021.

In January 2019, RZD International LLC and JSC Serbian Railways Infrastructure signed a contract, which includes the Integrated Traffic Control Center (ITCC) creation in the Republic of Serbia. Russian specialists have already inspected the railway facilities for creating the ITCC. The specifications of the project and design works content are being discussed now.

Director General of RZD International Sergey Pavlov: “While working in the Republic of Serbia, we have established a productive interaction with the country officials and our client, JSC Serbian Railways Infrastructure. This allows us to efficiently organize the workflow, including the most complicated and large-scale projects. We intend to continue to make every effort toward future modernization of the country’s railway infrastructure”.
