Сompletion of works on the Resnik – Vreoci section commenced operation on the Belgrade - Bar International Railway
International railway operations with the Montenergin city of Bar has been relaunched today during the ceremony held at the Central railway station of Belgrade. The event was made possible by the completion of rehabilitation works on the 35 km long Resnik – Vreoci section - the first stage of the Resnik-Valevo line reconstruction performed by “RZD International”.

Despite the tight deadlines, reconstruction of the Bela Reka tunnel was carried out on time. For the first time during modernization of Serbian railways track laying has been done with the use of the sub-ballast mat technology. Tracks were rehabilitated in the Bela Reka, Baraevo, Stepoevac and the 8-track Vreoci stations. Replacement of rails and sleepers, introduction of the signaling and catenary systems has increased traffic speed in this section from 50 to 90 km/h.

The resumption of traffic on the Belgrade - Bar line is especially important during the high tourist season. It is also important for ensuring regular supplies of coal from the Kolubara mining basin to the thermal power plants in Serbia.

Reconstruction of the Resnik – Valjevo section is performed in accordance with the Supplementary Agreement 4.1 to the Contract, signed between “RZD International” LLC and JSC “Infrastructure of Serbian Railways” in December 2015. The project’s contractual price is about 80 million US dollars.
